Happily Ever Afters...

Yesterday I was pondering the concept of not having Happily Ever Afters. I have recently watched, not one, but two movies that ended in a tragic moment with the main character being killed off. One was done well, and the other was just utterly lame... But the one that was done right had me blubbering like a baby. I can see the benefit of a well done tragedy, but it doesn't really matter, because I need my happily ever after. I need to know that life will go on with a ray of sunshine. I need to know that after all of the pain and struggles that our main characters have gone through... it will have been worth it.
I now understand why there had to be an epilogue for Harry Potter. So much sad had happened in the final dramatic scene that JKR had to find someway to leave the audience with a smile.

A love story is a tricky thing. It has already been done... and so perfectly by so many. So, what sets I Wish... apart? Simple, clean, forbidden love. It is so close, but so far.

As tomorrow is Patriot's Day, I thought a quote expressing why Jack and Kira feel so strongly about their different worlds was in order.

!!! Tagline Contest !!!

A new trend has started up with books. Taglines. It is like the elevator pitch... but shorter. In one very short sentence they reach out and grab you before you even open the cover.
Here are some taglines, from books and shows, that are a good example of what I am looking for:

So, I am starting a little contest to see who can come up with the best tagline for I Wish...

The first time I heard this song it was attached to a heart warming video about a little girl who loved her adopted brother that had down syndrome. I loved the last statement in the video that said, "Once you were rejected... but then you were chosen." I feel like it was perfectly said in that one sentence.

April Insights

As April struggles to shake off the shackles of winter the world waits eagerly for it to bring in the spring. Baby chicks, Easter eggs, blossoming trees and more all show us the rebirth of a new year. We all acknowledge this awakening in different ways... one of which is the ending of Lent. Although I am not of a faith that observes this tradition, I have always liked the idea of Lent... Giving up something for the greater good.
This is a theme throughout many romance novels, and I Wish... is no different.
I would love to have April be about comments... from you. Tell us all what your favorite parts of I Wish... are. What sacrifices did the characters make for one another? Do you foresee any other sacrifices ahead that they might have to make?

I find that I am really struggling writing a story after the love story. I love Happily Ever Afters, and I Dream... is not about the HEA. It is about dealing with the aftermath of an HEA... Finding more than just a surface love.

This is a fun song to sing along with, but it is even better to listen to. I love the concept of getting stuck behind the lines that you draw in sand. Makes you stop and think.

My ultimate goal with the Jinn series is share the message of believing in yourself and knowing who you are. I ran across this song today and it made me smile and think of Kira.

I love good old fashioned romances. Romances that make you yell out in frustration and shout with joy when everything comes together. Romances that have great back stories that draw the characters together and pull them apart. For me, North and South is the epitome of romance stories. Here is a glimpse to tempt you into watching the full four hours ;)
