Sunday Ponderings

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me'.

Stuck inside my head...

I curled up and watched 500 Days of Summer tonight. I hadn't heard too much about it, but I L-O-V-E Zooey Deschanel... so, I watched. It was unexpected and entertaining and soooo not a HEA (happily ever after). Dear heavens, it disappoints me every time. I wish it didn't... in fact, I have to say that it really was a good movie, but I need a HEA. I think that is why I am dragging my feet to end I Dream... The chances are very thin that true happiness can come at the end of book 2 in a 3 book series.

Kira is going to have to do some leaning on friends today. It's good that she can always count on them :)

I have a feeling that Aunt Sheila would have been a lot like Ellen... you know, except for mad about bacon and into the hippie style.

Really need to convey this feeling from Jack's point of view. Sometimes I think my book would be so much better if it had a soundtrack that clicked on as you read through scenes ;)

A little push...

I sat in a meeting on Sunday and listened to a lesson by a friend. The lesson focused on the importance of children in our lives. He quoted a great man by saying, "... and a child shall lead them." My heart beat a little harder at that moment, acknowledging the impact that children have in our lives. Over the last couple of days this has tumbled around in my mind. I thought about what it might mean for I Wish... It occurred to me that several books have made an impact on society because a youth has shared their love of a book with people that have the power to do something about it.

Ineffable Pictures has optioned the film rights to New York Times Bestselling teen novel, Tiger’s Curse, by Colleen Houck. Ineffable Pictures founder, Emmy-nominated producer Raphael Kryszek (Writer's Draft, Fox Legacy with Tom Rothman), says he read the book at the urging of his 11-year-old cousin. Shortly after this offer, Colleen was contacted by an agent to represent her. Then came the publishing deal that exploded Tiger's Curse throughout the world.

The decision to publish JK Rowling's book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, apparently owes much to Alice Newton, the eight-year-old daughter of Bloomsbury’s chairman, who was given the first chapter to review by her father and immediately demanded the next. Although Bloomsbury agreed to publish the book, Cunningham says that he advised Rowling to get a day job, since she had little chance of making money in children’s books. We all know what happened next.

I know that many of I Wish's fans feel like their voice isn't loud enough among the masses, but you never know. You could be the one to share I Wish... with a friend who has an aunt who works with the right people. So, this is a little push to share I Wish... with everyone.

I have big goals for writing today. So, I need some pick-me-up to motivate me, and this song does it.

Milestone!

I Wish... snuck up and past 100 fans on facebook today. Our goal is to tip over 250 this year and we are well on our way :D

Inspiration!

When people ask me what inspires me to write in my YA style... I think about my youth. I spent many hours sighing over Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers' dance steps, laughing at the antics of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, and swooning over Frank Sinatra romantic love songs. My heart goes pitter-patter for the good old-fashioned love stories that made me laugh and made me cry.

Listening to the results show of AI tonight and loved this quote: If you don't have a dream... then there is no way for you to make one come true. ~Steven Tyler~ What dreams are you willing to dream?

I need to keep the bubbly tone up even though there is a lot of harsh realities in I Dream... The tone of this song is what I would want to read... wouldn't you?

Happy Mother's Day!!!

One of my favorite surprises to find in books is that of a great Mother-figure. Someone who is strong and stern and loves without question. Here are a few of my favorite Moms from stories. Happy Mother's Day!!!

What better way to start the day than a little Cake? It shakes everything up, just like Jack needs a little more shaking up right now in I Dream...

Inspiration!

I heard this song on the way home from picking up my kidlets at school today and my daughter and I both turned to each other at the same time and asked, "Who sings this?" It sounded vaguely familiar, but I couldn't picture anything in my mind except for Jack and Kira facing off against a horde of fairies with family and friends by their sides. Now I know where it came from... Thank you Hunger Games and Taylor Swift for today's inspiration.

While instinct and intuition can help provide some warning signs, they can do little to prepare you for the feeling of rootlessness that follows when fate flips your world upside down. ~ Anthony Bozza ~
