Kira sat back on her heels next to him. She touched a hand to his cheek and felt a tiny shiver of energy pass between them. She felt a lump start to form in her throat. A tear slipped from her eye, slid down her face, and dropped onto Jack’s hand. Kira grasped that hand, leaned forward, and pressed her forehead to Jack’s chest.
